Getting Connected to God through his Word

The Bible is the best-selling book of all time, selling more than 6 billion copies by 1992. However, only 10% of professing Christians have read the entire Bible at least once. Most struggle to read the Old Testament and yet it is in reading it that we can understand the New Testament more. So, what help is there for those who want to get more from God's Word, especially difficult passages.

1. Try reading the passage in several translations (you can get different translations online through www.biblegateway.com)
2. Have as a companion 'How to Read the Bible, Book by Book', by Gordon D. Fee and Douglas Stuart. This gives a good overview of Scripture as well as a Book by Book guide giving the context and helpful hints to get the most out of reading particular passages.
3. Most importantly, remember to ask the Holy Spirit to help you to understand God's Word.
