Remember that awesome ‘flip style’ clock screenlet theme we mentioned earlier last week? Well it’s since been souped up, made themeable and capable of displaying even more information.

‘Flip Time’ is now supplied as a standalone screenlet able to display CPU, RAM, upload and download speeds as well as space information alongside the time and date.

By becoming a ‘screenlet’ rather than a ‘theme’ the itty widget has gained a host of customization options, such as colours and fonts used, an alarm fucntion that can either be set to annoy/wake you or run commands.
Download

FlipTime is a standalone Screenlet, the .deb of which can be download @ gnome-look.org

It’s best used with the most recent development release of Screenlets which can be installed via PPA: -

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:screenlets-dev/ppa
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install screenlets python-rsvg

To get more screenlets install the screenlets-all package from the PPA above.

Impatient for Ubuntu Natty? Add this countdown widget to your blog
Posted by at 3:53 pm, December 26th 2010.

We’re a long long way from the release of Ubuntu 11.04 – 123 days at the time of writing, in fact. Stat hounds, in for junkies and those forever with an eye on the time may wish to add a Natty countdown widget to their blogs or forum signatures can now do so thanks to reader Valentin.
The official Ubuntu countdown widgets – and the preceding contest – will kick start later next year. In the mean time this is a rather swish prop to pass the time with.
