You've probably noticed, by this point, that things here aint like they were, before.
Spookingtons.com has undergone another great transition. Granted, it's not the first time the website has undergone a great transition, and one might well make the case that the former transitions were not, ultimately, all that great, but let bygones be bygones, is what I say!
No, I really say that. Leave it alone, grasshopper.
This time around, the transition is a bit deeper, and represents not only a new look for the website, but far more than that -- a fundamental paradigm shift for our operations. To this point, Spookingtons.com has been primarily a comic-oriented website. On more than one occasion, we've attempted to provide regularly-updated, short comic series.
On more than one occasion, we have failed at this task miserably.
Gather around, my little bartenders, and I'll drop some whiny knowledge: unless you're running a gag series, webcomics are a dangerous proposition. No matter what noble aspiritions begat the effort, in the end, they're motivated solely by that ever-present deadline, which dulls creativity and innovation like sharp steel being scraped edge-first on a brick wall. In the end, it strangles the product, and you're left with a zombie of a comic series, continuing to exist without any spark of vitality, without any purpose except to meet the next deadline. Think "Cathy."
And so, with this new site, we step away from the running deadlines of old, and become a true (if extremely tiny) studio website. There will be no more 'running series,' no more tales begun and left unfinished after drawing the trusting audience in*. From this date forward, Spookingtons will be dealing solely in individual projects, and these will not be released to the public until they are well and truly finished, when all loose ends are tied and all the blood and gristle has been sponged up.
Of course, not releasing this stuff on a running basis does run the risk of starving the site out for content in the meanwhile. To combat these creative doldrums, we now proudly present the Spookingtons Production Blog, which is... this! A strange and terrible window into the seedy Spookingtons underworld, where quality entertainment products are forged from sweat, innovation, and our own secret ingredients**. By training your eye on this space, you can keep tabs on exactly how well -- or, indeed, how tragically poor -- our upcoming projects are going. Learn the techniques that turn ordinary paper into ordinary paper with awful cartoons on it! Experience intrusive sales pitches AS THEY HAPPEN! And so much more!
And now that you know where the Spookingtons Production Blog is... we end it, for today. Leave a comment, let us know how we're doing, and what you'd like to see from our strange, new world. Big things are about to occur!
*I mean, probably not. It's still a good prank.
