On Thursday, December 18th, 2014 the Nederlandse Golf Federation, the PGA Holland and the Dutch Association of Golf, organised the presentation of the 2014 Golf Awards at Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk. Partners ABN AMRO, Acushnet, Deloitte, KLM, Ricoh, TIG Sports and Van Lanschot Bankers co-operated and supported the event.
Monique Kalkman is part of the Dutch adapted golf selection, which the NGF started earlier in the year. Monique from Almere is aiming to be a world leader in golf, won the award for the best golfer in the category of disabled golf 2014.
Monique: "I have golfed for five years now and this year has the feeling that everything has fallen into place. The first few years I invested a lot of time with my team to pioneer golf from the Paragolfer. There was no ideal picture or suggestions for the swing technique, course management, equipment or training programmes. We experimented a lot in 2014, grinding out what we learned, and so I reduced my golf handicap. And we need to build on this in the coming years."
In 2014 Monique won the ABN / Amro Dutch Disabled Open, and the Algarve Open tournaments, finished second at the European Wheelchair Challenge in Barcelona, and finally ended in third place on the European Order of Merit.
