What are the extra mail trains Question

There are two additional mail trains between Shieldmuir and Warrington using cargo vans run from the 1st December 2014. The extra trains are:

- 05:22 Shieldmuir to Dallam (Warrington) 6M03
- 13:33 Dallam (Warrington) to Shieldmuir 6S02

What is the booked traction Question

The booked traction for the two extra mail trains are class 90s, but it may well drop other loco types.

That is a good question - I am not sure to be honest. The timings are slightly different this year so far as they only get 3hrs to turn around at Dallam.

If I hear anything, I shall post it here unless any other members have an idea Question

Tuesday 2nd & Wednesday 3rd December 2014

The mail services continued on the above dates and were worked by the same class 90:

many thanks , really hope I get at least one chance of it at the station , where do the wagons come from ? , if its south of bank quay that might be my chance when the service finishes .

Thursday 4th & Friday 5th December 2014

90028 worked 6M03 and 6S02 between Shieldmuir-Dallam-Shieldmuir on the above dates.

However, 66111 topped 90028 north of Carlisle Kingmoor while working 6S02 on the 5/12/14 due to operational requirements.

Wednesday 10th December 2014

90036 worked 6M03 from Shieldmuir to Dallam in the morning, but the 90 was topped by 66092 via the S&C on 6S02 due to OLE damage caused by the heavy winds.

Quite rare to see a 90 go via the S&C, just a pity it was under the cover of darkness.

Thanks, David.

Monday 22nd & Tuesday 23rd December 2014

On the above dates, 90035 replaced 90036 on the last remaining days of the Christmas postal trains as the DB liveried 90 needed to go to Crewe for maintenance. 90035 worked the following

05:xx Shieldmuir to Dallam (6M03)
13:33 Dallam to Shieldmuir (6S02)

On arrival at Shieldmuir on the 23/12/14, the loco and wagons went to Mossend and this concluded the 2014 additional postal trains (no more trains ran beyond this date of the 23rd Dec).
