The key highlights from week commencing 9th July 2017 have been summarised below:

1. On the afternoon of the 15th July, 90043 & 90042 could be found working 4S44 from Daventry to Coatbridge. However, the 90s failed with TMD issues near Wigan which resulted in the train being rescued by 90048 & 90045 after running light engine from Crewe. The train forward to Coatbridge with 90048 & 90045 as well as 90043 & 90042 DIT running 3hrs late.

2. Aside from the incident highlighted above, Freightliner 90s continued to operate in pairs when they were fully operational, which included 90042 & 90043; 90043 & 90048 and 90045 & 90048. The 90s worked for all or part of the week in the pair sequence's noted above on 4M27, 4M49, 4S44 and 4S45.

3. 90020 went on hire to VTEC this week after replacing 90036 which returned to Crewe via Doncaster; Tyne Yard and Carlisle for cab air-con repairs. However, this technical issue didn't prevent 90036 being used by VTEC until it went off-hire. In addition, 90029 could also be found on hire to VTEC this week too, which worked a number of services throughout the period including a trip to York on the 14/7/17.

4. Freightliner class 90s continued to be hired to GBRF for use on the beds this week, which saw 90044 and 90047 in action for a few days mostly on the 1S26 and 1M11 circuit. However, 90047 was stopped out of service mid-week at Willesden undergoing repairs and never worked a train for the rest of the week.

5. Following a planned overhaul at Crewe TMD, 90001 was released back into traffic and subsequently transferred from Crewe to Toton on the 14/7/14 which travelled via Bescot. The GA90 was dragged DITL on a freight train from Bescot to Toton, but there are no reports on what the loco was that did the move.

6. Over in Anglia, 90012 re-entered traffic with GA on the 15/7/17 starting with 1P03 to Liverpool Street after being stopped out of service at Crown Point for a few weeks. In addition, the GEML was largely open for the entire week including the weekends although some minor engineering works did take place late at night.

7. Finally, there were a number of 90s in and out of traffic for all or part of the week, which included 90001, 90002, 90012, 90016, 90018, 90021, 90024, 90026, 90034, 90035, 90036, 90039, 90041, 90042, 90045, 90046 and 90049. The reasons for the stoppages included general wear & tear; routine exams and maintenance; wheelset overhauls as well as major overhauls.

There is nothing else that needs to be added here, but should you require more details on what worked what and when, then please refer to the archived news and gen pages on the main website.
