It is with deep regret that I have to announce the passing of Jimmy Marsh on Sunday 24th October 2010.
Jimmy and his wife Pam were very close friends from childhood and I was privileged to be with Jim as a duo for many years in the seventies. His strong character enabled him to beat many severe adversities throughout his life, including a colostomy in his early days followed by an eleostomy in later life, but he eventually succumbed to cancer of the pancreas. My sincere thoughts go out to Pam and the two lads.
Jimmy invariably used the expression “a friend in need is a pain in the arse” a reference to his earliest operation but he was indeed a true friend, himself and Pam giving me valuable material help and good advise in my days of comparatively minor irritants of unemployment and other domestic upheavals.
I will miss Jimmy so much, but he gave me a lot of wonderful memories which will never fade, as I sit here alone in my living room in complete silence a smile followed by a tear will be the signs that I am thinking of him and reminiscing. God bless you Jimmy, I am not a religious person but somehow I know that I will join you one day in the future in another ‘existence’ where material and physical problems just don’t exist.
