Eddie Izzard, between 22 November 2009 and 23 November 2009.
STRIPPED
Top British stand-up comedian Eddie Izzard will be bringing his 'Stripped' tour to the Bournemouth International Centre for two nights from 22 November.
Eddie recently broke box office records selling out a five-week residency in London's West End in less than forty- eight hours. Stripped, which came hot on the heels of his American sell-out tour across 34 US cities - including three nights at New York's legendary Radio City Music Hall - was indisputably the hottest ticket of 2008 on both sides of The Atlantic. This will be Eddie's first UK tour in six years.
Eddie Izzard has been hailed as one of the foremost stand-ups of his generation. He takes ideas and situations and extrapolates then into bizarre, tangential, absurd and surreal comic narratives. Since his first stage appearance on London's West End in 1993 there have been a succession of sell-outs and critically acclaimed international tours. Eddie's musings have earned him countless awards including two Emmys. Whilst initially renowned as a comic, Eddie is also now equally respected as a film, theatre and TV actor.
"His humor reflects the scattershot lunacy of Monty Python, but with flashes of Robin Williams's manic energy and a sophisticated silliness that is entirely his own" - The New York Times
"Eddie Izzard has reclaimed his crown as the most poised comedian in Britain" - The Times
"The funniest stand-up I've ever seen...people are falling from their seats" - The Sun
Recommended for 15+ at parent's discretion. Show will contain strong and imaginative language.
Maximum of 6 tickets per person

Bournemouth Schools Music Association Annual Carol Festival 2009, between 24 November 2009 and 25 November 2009.
The Bournemouth Schools' Music Association Annual Carol Concert featuring schools across Bournemouth.
Bournemouth Schools' Music Association is devoted to putting on a Christmas Carol Concert each year to which the youth (and not so youthful!) members of Bournemouth schools are contributing. The original committee's aim, all that time ago, was to further music making in schools and to work together to achieve this common goal. During this year again there has been an incredible amount of hard work by a small, unpaid but loyal, team to ensure that the aim of that first committee still holds true. Committee members have organised music, meetings, rehearsals, transport and especially the important refreshments!
Every school represented in the concert has invested an enormous amount of time and energy, through brilliant teachers, in preparing the children for their performance. The common goal is that, through the experience of making music together, pupils are helped on their way to becoming well rounded citizens in future years. Throughout this year the BSMA has spent money, earned from previous concerts, providing music courses for teachers and children in the Borough in order to ensure the continuation of that goal.
The programme is packed full of traditional carols as well as a brand new carol by Andy Poole, a member of the committee and an ex-Bournemouth music teacher. The Carol Competition winner this year is Bernadette Bangura, who will perform her own work.
The 60th anniversary choir of two years ago has remained as an 'Anniversary choir' so that all the adults that have been involved in the past with the music association concerts can maintain their association and be involved in one number in the concert.

David Essex, 29 November 2009.
David has enjoyed a remarkable career embracing film, theatre and music. He has made over 5000 concert appearances and appeared successfully in 2 television series.
Film credits include That'll Be The Day, Stardust, Silver Dream Racer and Shogun Mayeda. Theatre credits include Jesus in the original West End Production of Godspell and Che in the original West End production of Evita. David enjoyed working on a ballet score (a version of 'Beauty and the Beast' with book by David Wood) for the Russian All Stars Company, an international ice skating ensemble, which was staged in 1995/1996. The premiere took place at the Royal Albert Hall and when David, as composer, took his bow at the end of the performance, a red carpet was rolled onto the ice and Michael Aspel walked on the 'arrest' for 'This Is Your Life'!
1999 began in great style - David was awarded an OBE in recognition of his services to charity, especially to VSO. In 2004 he starred in the new musical 'Boogie Nights 2' which opened in Bromley in August and performed to packed houses around the country.
In 2006 he starred in the hit West End Musical Footloose, breaking all box office records for the show. This was followed by another musical in 2007 when David was asked personally by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber to play the part of George in the new production of Aspects Of Love which he stayed in until March 2008. Which brings us to the 'All The Fun Of The Fair' Musical, which toured the UK from Sept 08 until May 09 playing to record breaking audiences.
David is now undertaking a tour of the UK commencing in Norwich on the 12th Oct, ending in Bournemouth on the 29th November.

The Legendary CHUCK BERRY and his St Louis Band, with special guests The Blues Band with Paul Jones and supporting act 'Jawbone', 30 November 2009.
"Riding Along In My Automobile..." - lyrics which for many encapsulate the music of Charles Edward Anderson Berry - better known as Chuck Berry, or as John Lennon once said: "If you tried to give rock'n'roll another name, you might call it 'Chuck Berry' ".
Born 18th October 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri where he learned the guitar. After a period in jail for armed robbery at the age of eighteen, Berry began playing guitar in various St. Louis bar bands.
It wasn't until 1951, however that he actually recorded some of his composition ideas on a home tape recorder. He then joined Johnnie Johnson (piano) and Ebby Hardy (drums) to form a trio which became a popular club attraction, playing everything from R'n'B to country & Nat King Cole songs.
In 1955, Berry went to Chicago with a demo tape and through a meeting with Muddy Waters was introduced to Leonard Chess. One song on the tape, "Ida Mae", impressed Chess, and after a re - write, turning the song into "Maybellene", Chuck Berry had his debut single - at nearly thirty years old! The song became a national Top 5 smash, as well as an R'n'B No. 1.
There followed a stream of chart successes like "Roll Over Beethoven", "Brown Eyed Handsome Man" and his UK chart debut "School Days".
Then, as the mid - 60's turned from R'n'B to Psychedelia, and the Beatles rejected the guitar for the sitar and studio wizardry, Berry's star waned. He continued to tour but it wasn't until he performed a long - used showstopper, "My Ding A Ling" in a 1972 recorded concert, that he archived what all rock stars hanker after; a No. 1 hit. His career was revived yet again, and today Berry is cited by many rock superstars, such as Bruce Springsteen and Keith Richards, as the original Mr. Rock'n'Roll.
Don't miss the rock 'n' roll legend in concert.

UB40, 8 December 2009.
UB40 ANNOUNCE LABOUR OF LOVE 2009 UK TOUR
(WITH SPECIAL GUEST EDDY GRANT)
Legendary UB40 are set to tour the UK this year and are releasing their new compilation album 'Love Songs' on 2nd February 09. The compilation brings together 20 of the band's best loved tracks.
Formed in 1978, the Birmingham band found world-wide success with the massive number 1 hits 'Red Red Wine', 'Can't Help Falling In Love' and 'I Got You Babe'. Thirty years on and 54 UK hit singles later, the band is still going strong with Duncan Campbell taking over from brother Ali on vocals.
Lead guitarist Robin Campbell said, "UB40 are really excited about performing in the UK in November/December this year where we will be playing songs from our forthcoming album 'Labour of Love IV'. Last year's shows in Europe, USA, Bermuda and Canada with the new line up proved a great success, one of the many highlights being a sold-out show to 18,000 people at the Hollywood Bowl. The UK audience's acceptance of the new line up was overwhelmingly supportive and we can't wait to play them some of our new material."
Fellow ringbang artist, Eddy Grant will be the special guest on all the UK arena dates. Grant's career has spanned over thirty years and has had many hit singles including 'Do You Feel My Love' and 'I Don't Wanna Dance' which stayed at Number 1 in the UK charts for 3 weeks in 1982. Grant's biggest single was 'Electric Avenue' which went on to sell over 1 million copies worldwide having been re-released in 2001 as a remix. As an artist who has always been politically astute, Grant scored another hit with "Gimme Hope Jo'anna", during the apartheid regime. Most recently, Eddy Grant performed at Glastonbury 2008.
Said Eddy, "Look out for an amazing show! The mixture of British reggae from UB40 to my hit laden spot of ringbang music will have everybody dancing in the aisles and a night when everybody will dance home and plan to book a flight to the Caribbean for some more!"
Not many bands can boast seventy million albums sold; from their debut 'Signing Off" to the forthcoming album 'Labour Of Love IV'. UB40 have brought their unique reggae sound to the masses. As live performers, UB40 are second to none, having toured the world and sold out arenas on every continent.
This year's nationwide arena tour which will kick off in Glasgow's SECC on 23rd November 2009.

Basement Jaxx, 16 December 2009.
Since starting life as underground producers and party promoters in 1995, putting out their first tracks on shrink wrapped vinyl and throwing hush-hush raves in abandoned South London pizza joints, Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton, collectively known as Basement Jaxx, have taken the sound of London, SW9 to the world.
With album sales of more than 3 million under their belt, including 2005's double platinum UK No.1 collection "The Singles", Basement Jaxx have also developed into a remarkable live act in which they eschew the usual head bobbing DJ style show that dance music is known for in favour of an all out sensory assault featuring drums, percussion, guitar and an army of singers.
2005 saw them play at the world famous Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, to 30,000 people in Hyde Park in Central London and close the main stage at the ultimate festival, Glastonbury.
Earlier the same year saw them collect their first Grammy for "Best Electronic Album" to add to the two BRIT's (Best Dance Act) and numerous other awards already on the shelf.
2006 saw the first Jaxx UK arena tour, selling over 55,000 tickets across the UK in support of the album "Crazy Itch Radio".
"Raindrops", the first single from the album "Scars", is currently A-listed at Radio 1 and the band are playing an extensive festival tour this Summer, including headline slots at Rockness, Creamfields, Wireless & The Big Chill.
"Scars" is released on XL Recordings on September 21st and the Jaxx will be rounding off the year with another run of UK live dates ending with the mother of all Christmas parties at London's O2 on December 17th.
